Mr. Newbury is a graduate of the University of Connecticut (B.S. 1977). He received his law degree from Suffolk University (J.D. cum laude 1981). In 2002, Mr. Newbury received his master of laws (LL.M.) degree in insurance law from the Insurance Law Center at the University of Connecticut. He served as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Alfred V. Covello, Connecticut Appellate Session, from 1982-83, and to the Connecticut Superior Court Judges, from 1981-82.

Mr. Newbury is admitted to practice in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, the United States District Court, District of Connecticut, United States District Court, District of Massachusetts, United States Court of Appeals, 2nd Circuit and United States Supreme Court. He is Board Certified as Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

Since 2006 to present, Mr. Newbury has been recognized as a Super Lawyer by his peers across New England. In addition, Mr. Newbury has received the distinction as one of Best Lawyers specializing in insurance law.

Mr. Newbury presented a paper entitled“ Insurance Coverage for Mold Claims” at the Sterling Education Services, LLC seminar on Water Intrusion and Mold Claims in Connecticut, on June 18, 2003. He also authored an article entitled “International Law: The Canadian Arctic Waters Pollution Prevention Act and its Effect," published at 4 Suffolk Transnational Law Journal 139 (1980). He is a frequent speaker on insurance coverage issues to insurance professionals.
